A Double Dip at Rt66 Old School Brewing

Fun stat of the week:  252 pounds of blueberries.  That is the amount of fruit added to Fruited Wheat (pictured).  It weighs in at a 4.7% ABV and has a hint of sweetness.

It’s fellow release is Tenderfoot, a NEIPA with piney, floral, and grassy notes in the taste.

Make sure to head out to Wilmington to try both of these new beers!

Still Storming at Garage Band

The Plainfield brewery is still pumping out cans of one of its most in-demand beers.  Nor’Easter is a NEIPA with El Dorado, Ekuanot, Mosaic, and Citra hops.  Find out what the buzz is all about by grabbing a 4-pack of this amazing beer at Garage Band Brewing.

Two Favorites Back at Mad Hatchet

“You Asked For It” is a tasty Hefeweizen that weights in at 4.8% ABV. The beer brings a strong banana flavor and a hint of clove.  It’s been brewed with Hallertau hops.

“This is Your Grain on Hops” could be my favorite beer name of recent memory.  The beer is a West Coast IPA at 9.1% ABV.  Brewed with amarillo, centennial, columbus, and simcoe hops your get a strong hoppy flavor, a nice piney aroma, finished by a traditional bitter west coast punch.

New and Limited at Metal Monkey

There is only a sixtel of the newest Gose at Metal Monkey Brewery.  POG Destroyer is a traditional Gose with passion fruit, orange and guava.  It’s described as a deliciously sour fruit forward beer.  It’s so new and limited, I don’t have a photo of it.

Miskatonic Breaking Out the Bottles of Black is Beautiful

This blended barrel-aged stout consists of 2 different barrel-aged stouts (one aged in Heaven Hill and the other in Jim Beam) and then blended with a fresh batch. It comes in nice and smooth despite being 12% ABV

Proceeds from the beer will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Due to limited quantities, this will not be available online, but you can order plenty of other options and then come pick this up separately.

A Tough Call at the Plate … Might As Well Play These Two from MyGrain

This beautiful photo reminds us that baseball season is upon us.  And whether you head in to the brewery or take these cans home … you will definitely come out a winner.

Iron and Steel is a big, bold beer named for the iron and steel workers that built Joliet into the city it is today. A generous grain bill with plenty of Munich malt and flaked wheat give this beer a pillowy mouthfeel, while the heaping portions of Azzaca, Mandarina Bavaria, and El Dorado hops throw a bomb of citrus on the back end.

Pilcher’s Pale Ale is a worldwide take on an American Style, their APA comes from all over the world, including Dutch, German, Belgian malts, rounded out by buckets of citrusy American hops to give it a strong bitterness and aroma.

Someone Say Seltzer?

Pollyanna came out with a new strawberry hard seltzer!  If you’re a fan of the seltzers, you will definitely want to check out this one – available at all three Pollyanna locations.

One New and One Favorite at Will County Brewing

And, yes, I couldn’t pass up the joke image that they posted earlier today on Facebook.

So, Pinochle Otters is back at Will County.   This is a Pina Colada inspired NEIPA with Coconut and Pineapple.  It was brewed in collaboration with Metal Monkey and the Joliet Brewers Guild.

Duper Tubin’ is the new one at WCBC.  It’s a light and crisp Kolsch that pays homage to tubing down the DuPage River!

Black is Beautiful x2 at Skeleton Key Brewery

SKB and Liquid Love Brewing collaborated on two different versions of beer for the Black Is Beautiful initiative, organized by Weathered Souls Brewing Company.  100% of the proceeds from the SKB version will be donated to My Block, My Hood, My City and The Center for Black Equity.

The SKB version features Sweet Plantains, Milk Sugar and Toasted Coconut.  The LLBC version features Cacao Nibs from Ghana, Vanilla, Milk Sugar, and Smuggler’s Coffee.

Cans will be sold in 16oz two packs, including one of each version.  Each two pack is $10, with a limit of four 2 packs per person.  There will be a limited amount of each version on draft in the patio and on the tap room.  The fun starts at 12pm on Saturday!

300 Lux

Whiskey Hill’s latest is a American Wheat Ale hopped with Centennial. Slightly hazy with a golden tint, 300 Lux is a bready and sweet treat with a crispy finish.

This Beer Could Be Good For Your Eyes

Ike & Oak has come out with a unique flavor that I don’t remember seeing before.  Woolly Wabbit is a Carrot Cake Milkshake IPA.  If you’re wanting dessert and wanting beer, this gives you both in one glass.

Do the Humpy Hump

Humpenscrump is back … cue the Humpty Dance!

Humpenscrump is a recurring Hefeweizen at Pollyanna Brewing Company.  The label reads “Brewed with 100% German malt, wheat, hops, and yeast, this beer is super smooth, soft, and clean with no discernible bitterness. A light sweetness and notes of banana and clove make this perfect on a hot, sunny day.”  Get Humpy at all three Pollyanna locations.

Whisky Hill With Prickly Pear

Whiskey Hill unveiled a new team member (Welcome Victor!) and a new beer today.  Introducing Con Nopal, a new Berliner Weisse with Prickly Pear and Mango.  The name Con Nopal is Spanish for “With Prickly Pear.”  The brewery reports that the beer is “glowing with flavors of bubblegum and watermelon.”  It’s a great beer for these summer months!

AOAO Limoncello Wheat

I am excited about this new beer from Flapjack Brewery.  I do love Limoncello, and I’m expecting this to be a perfect, refreshing summer drinker.

The Hawaiian Punch of Tiki Beer

This beer had me at hello.  Strawberry, mango, passion fruit, cherry, rum-reminiscent spices in a lemony kettle sour base.  It’s Skeleton Key Brewery‘s latest in their Tiki Sour Series, and its “Paintball Fight with a Cobra.”  I don’t know why, but that title sounds like it could be a show on Netflix.  Figured I’d just add that last comment.

Shandy, You’re a Fine Girl

Will County Brewing‘s popular summer shandy is back!  Squeeze My Lemons is a sweet sandy that’s perfect for this time of year.  Available on drafts and 4-packs.

Vermillion River Weiss from Tangled Roots

River Weiss, River Weiss
Your subtle aromas greet me
flavors of banana, flavors of clove
I’ll be happy to drink thee

Yes, I went from Humpty Dance in the earlier Pollyanna post to The Sound of Music.

Sippin’ On Prairie Juice

Hickory Creek Brewing Co. is bringing back Prairie Juice. Hazy, hoppy, and floral. Floral hop aromas from large amounts of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops.

This Beer is In The Cards For You

Have you had Pollyanna’s In the Cards?  This Hazy American Pale Ale is Double Dry Hopped with Citra and Cryo Loral hops and fermented with Kveik yeast.

Pollyanna’s Fruhauf

The 2016 Great American Beer Festival’s Bronze-Winning German Style Marzen is back!  The name Fruhauf actually paged homage to a German immigrant who started a store in Lemont in the late 1800’s.  This Pollyanna Brewing beer itself is  clean, malty, and “just dry enough.”

Pinochle Otters in 4-Packs

Both Metal Monkey and Will County Brewing have four packs of Pincochle Otters, which debuted earlier.  Check out the description above (Friday, July 24) for more information.

COMING SOON

The Band is Warming Up

Plainfield’s Garage Band Brewing is working on a new American Wheat that will be ready in a few weeks.  Keep an eye out for Wadnoggin!

The Beer is Cake

OK, so I don’t have one of those cool optical illusion videos, where the end result is a really fancily-decorated cake.  I wish I did, I’m hungry.  But I do have info on a collab with Will County Brewing, Mad Hatchet Brewing, and Orland Park Bakery.  It involved four 18″ x 26″ sheet cakes.

Alter Brewing is Channeling it’s Inner Thor

Alter is working on a tasty one.  They’re brewing a NEIPA with a Norwegian Kveik yeast.  They’re bringing the thunder, which will be here in early August.

They are also working on Orange Hwip, which should be here in a few weeks as well.

Flapjack Brewery’s Cherry Limeade Sour

Pictured here (in a cool filter) is one of Flapjack’s brewers adding cherry puree to their cherry limeade sour.  It sounds perfect for summer, and can’t wait to try this.

By the Light of the Harvest Moon

Plainfield’s Garage Band Brewing is working on their Oktoberfest beer, Harvest Moon.  Here’s a FB video they published.  Watch it, and you can almost smell the brew through the computer / smart phone.
