Hey There, Lexi ….

Pollyanna Brewing Company‘s Lexical Gap is a mainstay on the Pollyanna beer menu and should be a mainstay in your fridge as well.  It’s an India Pale Ale, weighing in at 7.3% ABV.

Want to know what a “Lexical Gap” is?  Also known as a launa or accidental gap, a lexical gap is a word that could exist because it follows the grammatical rules of language – but is actually nonexistent.

Here’s a link to caecholier.com, which was the first thing that popped up when I googled “Lexical Gap.”

Fly With the Hawk for Red Tail

River Hawk Brewing has re-released Red Tail, their popular Red Ale.  You’re going to get a low ester profile, accompanied by complex malt characteristics.

The ale weighs in at 6% ABV.

A Nor’easter Sighted at Garage Band Brewing

Plainfield’s Garage Band Brewing has limited quantities of their hazy fruit bomb “Nor’Easter.”  It’s a tropical storm of melon, mango, citrus, lime, papaya, and more.

Have Your Cake, Drink It Too!

Black Horizon is dropping bombs on Tuesday!  Their Sugar Bomb Milkshake IPA’s are amazing and flavorful.  Both beers are 7% ABV and 20 IBU.

Release #1 is the Lemon Birthday Cake Sugar Bomb Milkshake IPA.  It’s going to have aromas like you just pulled the cake out of the oven.  The fruity profile combines perfectly with the hops.  You’ll feel like this is a present just for you, and you don’t have to blow any candles out!  Two packs of 16-oz cans are $12.

Release #2 is the Cookies & Cream Sugar Bomb Milkshake IPA.  We all know the flavor, and Black Horizon definitely brought the iconic cookie flavor.  Two packs of 16-oz cans are $12.

Do the Humpy-Hump

Creamy and soft wheat, with a finish of yeast-derived banana and clove.  Humpenscrump is back!  Pollyanna’s super-seasonal Hefeweizen is back in cans for your drinking pleasure.

Hwip it Good!

I could have gone with a Blues Brothers pun, but decided to go with Devo.  Orange Hwip is a beer after my own heart, as I love the dreamsicle flavor.  Alter’s Orange and vanilla milkshake IPA is now available in 6 packs at Alter Brewing’s Downers Grove location.

A Triple Release from Metal Monkey

Three new beers from the Romeoville-based brewery today.

  • “I Want Samoa This” is a brown ale inspired by the Samoa Girl Scout Cookie.  This was brewed by MMB’s taproom manager, Stacy.  This one is super limited, only one keg.  4.3% ABV.
  • “Monkey Junction”, check out this one – a Vienna-style Mexican lager.  It’s been brewed with flaked maize and gently hopped with Motueka.  Weighs in a 4.2%, the perfect easy drinker for a hot day.
  • Are you ready for this one … the Monkey’s have released “Rick,” a pickle Gose.  Sweet, sour, and delicious.   They say its really good!  (I can’t say anything, I don’t like pickles to begin with).

This is The Gardener’s Time of Year

Memorial Day marks the start of summer.  Warm temps, sunny days, and the perfect weather for The Gardener.  Now, I’m not talking one with a green thumb, I’m talking about Miksatonic’s newest brew.  It’s a re-imagined Belgian Witbier that pays homage to a lemon bar recipe.  American wheat, lavender, vanilla, and lemon peel.

Tangled Roots has a Passion for Brewing

If this “Stay at Home” order has taken some passion out of your life, you’ll need to get it back quick.  Get Passion Fruit Express, the latest beer from Tangled Roots Brewing Company.  It’s a session IPA brewed with Citra, Amarillo, and Cascade hops.  They injected passion fruit and apricot puree into this beer.  ABV is 5% on this one.  Bring the passion back into your life.

Well Squeeze my Lemons!

Cool and refreshing, the perfect beer for this time of year, Squeeze my Lemons Lemonade Shandy is back at Will County Brewing Company.  Get this one in howlers and growlers.  You’ll want to be sipping on this one, especially if you’re going to be grilling outside this weekend!

Climb Into Mad Hatchet for This One

Jason’s Ladder is the first beer I had over at Mad Hatchet, and after the sip, I was immediately a fan.  Ok, truthfully, when I first walked in to the brewery and its horror-themed brewery, I was a fan.  The first sips of beer solidified by fandom.   Jacob’s Ladder is a cream ale weighing in at 5.5%.  You’ll get amazing flavor out of this one!  Two thumbs up from me.

Grab this for a “Winning Hand”

In the cards is a new American Pale Ale from Pollyanna Brewing Company.  This one will be dropping on Friday, May 22.  Dry-hopped with Citra and Cryo Loral hops, this beer weighs in at 5.5% ABV.

A Collab with Pollyanna and Revolution

Pollyanna teamed up with Revolution to bring “Lederhosen Luau” into the world.  It’s a Hopfenweisse with Sabro, Mosaic, and Citra.  This one will be available in a few weeks!

A Whiskey Hill and Foreign Exchange Collab

Whiskey Hill Brewing Company and Foreign Exchange Brewing have teamed up for a great sounding collab.  Their thick and viscous chocolate stout is currently being rested with toasted coconut, roasted pistachios, and a blend of Tahitian and Madagascar vanilla beans.  This is sounding amazing, and in a few more weeks, it’ll be ready for us to enjoy.
