A Summertime Crush at Pollyanna

Pollyanna Brewing Company‘s got a brand new American Wheat Ale that they’re rolling out today.  “Sunshine Sprawl” is an easily crushable beer.  It’s low on bitterness and makes you wish you were in a hammock somewhere.  (As I’m now trying to figure out how to get a hammock in my little corner of our living room that also serves as my work-from-home desk).

Two Favorites Back on Tap at Will County Brewing Company

Bamm-Bamm and FUSS are back!  Both dropped at 3pm at the Shorewood brewery.  If you aren’t familiar with these two … you really should order some!

Bamm-Bamm Loves Pebbles is a cereal-based wheat ale.  The cereal used is the oldest-surviving cereal based on a television character (Random factoid from Wikipedia).  And, the fact that this wheat ale also has lactose makes it a true bedrock of any nutritional breakfast.

F.U.S.S. is a Hazy IPA that uses Mosaic, Denali, and Idaho 7 hops.  Yes, I’m going to do the  same pun … if you want to see what the fuss is all about, check out Will County Brewing!

Elder Bringing Some Haze

Somerset Haze is the newest from the Joliet-based Elder Brewing Company.  It is a super juicy, smooth, and bitter-sweet, hazy IPA. You can taste a bit of orange as this one goes down. It’s perfect for some patio and backyard drinking!

BRD is a BFD

If you’re a light beer drinker, get a 6-pack of Will County Brewing‘s Beer, Ready-to-Drink (BRD).  This is an easy-drinking American lager brewed for light beer drinkers by craft beer makers.  I enjoy a lot of craft beers, but sometimes you just have a craving.  This is the beer I reach.  Quality, and much better than the branded Lite’s you will see in the grocery store.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beerholder

River Hawk has released their latest NEIPA, “Eye of the Beholder.”  I am a fan of this one, as it brings the juiceand keeps the sweetness mild.

Tuesday, May 12

Watch out Ray Romano, Ray Parker, Jr., and Ray Lewis

Alter‘s latest will definitely catch you, especially if you’re name is Ray.  Make sure you catch “Catching Rays,” an easy-drinking, low-cal IPA.  You’re going to love the grapefruit aroma and citrus notes.   It weighs in at 4.2% ABV and is simply a nice refreshing beverage.  You’ll love it!

A Joint Effort Called “A Joint Effort”

So, this West Coast IPA was meant to be an offering at an event called COLLAB Fest.  Skeleton Key Brewery and Miskatonic were going to work hand-in-hand … but, as I learned in business school, don’t let a little pandemic stop a great idea.  The two breweries came together, including a 50/50 mix of house malts, a tag-team of company artists.

The beer itself is a 6.5% ABV, 70 IBU, Chico-fermented offering.  Hopped continuously, and comedically according to Miskatonic’s brewery AJ, it has a bit of everything – old and new world hop varietals.  Nugget, Chinook, Simcoe, Cascade, CTZ, and HBC522.  Classic resin, dank green tones, with notes of diesel, pine, and pithy pink grapefruit.

Available in 4-packs for $9.99 at both breweries.

Pollyanna’s Henry is Growing Up So Fast

Henry is the son of Pollyanna’s Head Brewer Brian.  Each year, they release a beer based on everything that little Henry is into.  This year, Henry has been pounding the prune juice.  So, “Henry 2020” is a perfect Munich Dunkel Lager at 5.0% ABV that was brewed with prunes.  The light fruitiness pairs well with the bready, caramel malt backing.

You can get Henry 2020 at all 3 Pollyanna locations.

This Could Replace the Big Breakfast at the Golden Arches

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all started the morning with a can of Black Horizon Brewing Company‘s Maple Coffee Stout.  This beer weighs in at 7.5% ABV, and has all the great flavors of breakfast in its 16 oz. can.

And, since a lot of us are working from home — tongue-out

The Rare and Elusive 12 Pointer is Back at Ike & Oak

If you have ever seen a beautiful deer with massive antlers in the wild, it’ll truly make you stop.  It’s rare to see, and definitely something to appreciate.  And, you will definitely appreciate Ike & Oak’s “12 Pointer.”  It’s a white stout with notes of chocolate and vanilla.  You can get it in crowlers and growlers as a non-nitro beer, or you can get the carbonated version for cans and growler vessels.

Who Brews in a Pineapple Under the Sea?  MET-AL MONK-EY

Metal Monkey describes this beer perfectly, “ridiculously delicious.”  I totally agree.  Imagine a traditional sour German wheat beer.  The Monkeys use coriander, Himalayan salt, and pineapple juice to make something that SpongeBob would definitely be proud of.

Juicesicle!!!!

I love the dreamsicle beers, and Juicesicle from Will County Brewing Company is my favorite of the WCBC lineup (which is full of all-stars).  Orange peel and vanilla are the flavors of this Milkshake IPA.
