2020’s PINK BOOTS RELEASE

Skjoldmø is Norwegian for “Shield Maiden,” the existence of which is debated to this day, much like the existence of women brewers.  Members of the Pink Boots Society – Chicago,  from all over came together to make this tasty beer.  “When women support each other, incredible things happen!”

Brewers from Argus Brewing, BuckleDown Brewing, Burnt City Brewing, Haymarket Pub & Brewery, Sew Hop’d, Mad Hatchet Brewing, Skeleton Key Brewery, Owwego Brewing Co., Metal Monkey Brewing, Dovetall Brewery, Goose Island, Dry City Brew Works, and Rabid Brewing came together to produce this beer.

The beer is pronounced “shoul-mah.”  It’s a Hazy IPA, weighing in at 6.5% ABV.  The brew used kveik yeast, and dry-hopped with Idaho Gem, El Dorado, Azacca, and Loral hops.

A portion of the proceeds from Skjoldmø will be donated to the Pink Boots Society to fund scholarships for women in the brewing industry.

Both Whiskey Hill and Mad Hatchet are releasing this beer today (with the other breweries soon to follow suit).

A Trio from Pollyanna

Sometimes the answer is “Get them all.”  This weekend at all three Pollyanna locations, the answer is definitely “Get them all.”

In split two packs, you can get Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Toasted Marshmallow Fun Size and Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Coffee Size (featuring barrels from Willett Distillery).  Both beers weigh in at 13.5% ABV.

  • BBA Imperial Toasted Marshmallow Fun Size is an imperial milk stout aged in bourbon barrels with toasted marshmallow, peanut, cocoa nib, vanilla bean, and sea salt.
  • Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Coffee Fun Size is an imperial milk stout aged in rye whiskey barrels with Tugboat Coffee‘s Bali Blue Moon coffee, peanut, cocoa nib, vanilla bean, and sea salt.

And, in 4 packs of 16-ounce cans, you can get Double Lex-Zwickel Gap Mosaic.

Murder Never Tasted So Good

Skeleton Key Brewery is canning their all-Citra hopped IPA, Professor Murder, for the first time today.  The IPA is averaging over a 4.0 on UnTappd.

Miskatonic Channelling It’s Inner Tiki

The Darien-based brewery is bringing back one of their favorite NEIPA’s.  The pineapple flavor and aromas similar to those of a tropical cocktail will make you think you were lounging on a beach somewhere warm, with nobody within six feet of you.

The Only Time Where a Sucker Punch is a Good Thing

Mad Hatchet released SuckerPunch IPA, a 7.2% ABV American style IPA.  This is a tasty little number that has become a favorite at the Shorewood brewery.
