Skeleton Key’s Latest Will Rock You Like a Hurricane

I can’t pass up any reference to 80’s hair metal, sorry!  But, a sip of this one will make all of my bad jokes go much better.  On Fat Tuesday, Skeleton Key released Hurricane Hazy, a NEIPA with passionfruit and cherry.  AMAZING!!!

EDITORS NOTE:  This beer is currently tapped out.

Black Horizon’s New Belgian

Wednesday marked the “Night of the Hunt,” a Belgian Dubbel which reminded me of why I like Belgian beer.  Lots of good stuff in this one, specialty malts, kilned dark sugars, and an ancient yeast strain.  Notes of toffee, caramel, Beglian spice, plum, date, and dig.

The Joy Of Conquering a Negativity Spreader

There is something about making a negativity spreader stop, or just go away.  Especially, when you’re talking about Flapjack Brewery’s latest … “Negativity Spreader.”  And there is one way to make this one go away —  IN MY BELLY!

This just came back on tap a few hours before writing.  It’s a Double IPA that weighs in at 9.15% ABV and 95 IBU’s.  3.77 on 83 reviews per UnTappd.

It’s Alive – And It’s At Mad Hatchet!

If you think about it, the story of Frankenstein is sort of like craft brewing.  Bringing a bunch of parts together with a goal of creating something extraordinary.  Here, the “mad scientists” brought together Mosaic and Vic Secret hops in order to come with a beer that everyone will love.  And, since they’re letting us all have at it … it must be good (they always are from this Shorewood brewery.)

Always Bet on Double Black

Pollyanna Brewing Company’s latest, “Grimm Speaker,” is a new Double Black IPA.  Mosaic and Simcoe hops, roast malt.  This one sounds like a winner.  Already on the taps at Lemont and Roselle, later this weekend at St. Charles.

21 Candles at Tangled Roots

How cool is it to be 21 and being able to drink a beer that you helped make?  That’s Sylvia in the picture, and the beer is “21 Candles.”

The beer is a golden ale, accented with strawberry and peach.  Going to get a slight sweetness in the taste of this brew.

Liquid Candy and Metal Beer

Metal Monkey is rolling out some great stuff today!  The left two beers in their photo are from their “Balloon Head” line.  Remember those taffy candy’s that used to be like 10 cents a bar?  Imagine those in Berliner Weisse goodness.  This week, they have Raspberry and Cherry.  (More flavors to come soon).

Also released is “Metalmorphosis: Track 3 – Amarillo, Mandarina Bavaria & Exp. 07270″.  A NEIPA that is tropical and juicy, loaded with citrus.

Paladin, One of Three New Beers at River Hawk

Three for you to try at River Hawk, based in Channahon.

  • Paladin:  This champion of easy drinking brews has a well-balanced malt character combined with a strong foundation of hops led by Warrior and followed by Centennial, Chinook and Amarillo to give it a clean and crisp bitterness.  (Click the image from Monty Python and the Holy Grail for more info)
  • Mangarine:  Orange tangerine wit. Springtime in a glass.
  • Ancient Alien:  Lost in the annals of brewing, this ale defies conventional brewing techniques known today. Made with a combination of grain & DME, hopped massively, dry hopped twice, aged forever, this ale has a sweet fruity flavor with mosaic hops.

Don’t You Know I’m Coco?

It sounds like something I would have thought of, but this is the name of the newest release from Whiskey Hill Brewing Company?  Double chocolate, plus coconut, equals one amazing stout.

Tangerine and Tahiti Lime Will Help You Get Over the Mondays!
Ike and Oak just released word of a new beer hitting their taps on Monday.  And, just like the weather, it has me ready for summer.

Mt. Shasta is a NEIPA with Tangerine and Tahiti Lime.  It’s going to be hazy and creamy, according to Ike & Oak, with a fruit hop character!  Can’t wait to try this one out!
