Welcome to the first-ever edition of the Heritage Corridor Ale Trail Power Rankings. It’s football season, and Power Rankings are prevalent throughout all the sports sites … so I figured, why couldn’t we have one?
NEW TO POWER RANKINGS?
If you’re new to Power Rankings, basically, it’s typically a subjective ranking of how sports teams are typically doing at this given moment. As the season goes up and down, so does their standing in the power rankings. Here’s a link to ESPN’s NFL Power Rankings going into the 2019 season.
HOW WILL THESE ALE TRAIL POWER RANKINGS WORK
So, the Ale Trail Power Rankings are all about numbers. I like them all, so it’s hard to be subjective. Our Power Rankings will be determined by check-ins from the 2019 Ale Trail Passport. That’s right – YOU can have a direct impact on who makes the list.
But, here’s where things will get interesting. Remember, you can only check into a location ONCE each year. There have already been over 4600 check-ins. Those don’t count. Each week, the number resets to zero. This way, we’ll get a true reflection on where everyone is going to visit.
WHY ARE YOU CALLING THIS WEEK 1 IF YOU’VE BEEN DOING THE PASSPORT SINCE MAY
Because, I just this idea of it last week.
WEEK 1’s POWER RANKINGS: August 19 to August 26, 2019
#5 – Black Horizon Brewing Company
Black Horizon Brewing Company is actually leading the Heritage Corridor Ale Trail in year-to-date check ins, but is currently sitting in the 5-spot for the week. They released a Double NEIPA collab this past week with Lake Zurich Brewing Company. This week, don’t miss their Futurama Tringo (combination of Trivia and Bingo) on Thursday, August 29.
#3 (Tie) – Tangled Roots Brewing Company and Honest Abe’s Tap and Grill
We have a tie from two of our locations on the west end of the trail. Tangled Roots Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest made an appearance last week (now available in cans), as well as Tasmanian Devil (an Australian variant of Devil’s Paintbox. Honest Abe’s has an amazing burger menu, and some of the best beer around – so it’s no surprise it made the list this week as well.
#1 (Tie) – Elder Brewing Company and Garage Band Brewing
We also had a tie at the #1 spot as well. Elder Brewing Company was a prime stop before the Great Joliet Prison Break-In, where they served the awesome tasting and awesomely-themed It’s Never Too Late to Mend. That beer was flowing at the event as well! Garage Brand Brewing has been rocking-and-rolling (see what I did there) at their Plainfield location. They’ve got great music, and they hosted an awesome event with their neighbors, Station One Smokehouse, which we have a video from as well.
