Over 60 American Craft Beers Available for Sampling
The place for any craft beer lover to be on Saturday, May 26 is downtown Ottawa, IL at the 2nd Starved Rock Country Brew Fest. The fest, produced by Lou Dog Events, is scheduled to feature 30 craft breweries from all over the country and over 60 craft beers.
Ottawa Mayor Robert Eschbach stated, ““I am pleased to invite all craft beer lovers to downtown Ottawa on May 26. While here, though, I hope they will take some time to visit our beautiful downtown which is full of unique places to shop and dine. This will be easy to do as the downtown is less than a block from the Festival site on the Illinois River. Please enjoy your visit.”
“This is a premier beer festival that is in the heart of Starved Rock Country, right on the Illinois River,” stated Scott Struchen, Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Tangled Roots Brewing Company in Ottawa, IL. “The Starved Rock Brew Fest will feature Central Illinois biggest and best breweries in a serene nature setting that you find nowhere else in the state.”
Local breweries Tangled Roots Brewing Company, Radium City Brewing, and Blockhouse are three of the 13 breweries from the great state of Illinois. Other Illinois breweries include 350 Brewing Company, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, Brickstone, Forge Brewhouse, Half Acre Brewing, Hand of Fate Brewing Company, Lake Effect Brewing, Miskatonic Brewing Company, Noon Whistle Brewing, Penrose Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing, Destihl and Two Brothers Artisan Brewing.
Struchen added about the areas passion for brews, “Starved Rock Country is becoming a real craft beer destination. Radium City paved the path for other breweries like us in Ottawa, IL and Blockhouse in Streator. We grow our own hops & barley and use them in our 41 ° 88 ° Pale Ale which is a rare beer featured at the Starved Rock Country Brew Fest. Tangled Roots Brewing Company is proud to have more breweries coming to the area to make this an integral hub of the Heritage Corridor Ale Trail.”
Out of state brewers include Ace Premium Hard Ciders (California), Anchor Brewing (California), Avery Brewing (Colorado), Dark Horse Brewing (Michigan), Founders (Michigan), Great Lakes Brewing Company (Ohio), Kentucky Ale (Kentucky), Left Hand Brewing Company (Colorado), North Coast Brewing (California), Smuttynose Brewing Company (New Hampshire), Stone Brewing (California), Surly Brewing Company (Minnesota), and Victory Brewing Company (Pennsylvania).
The event takes place from 12pm to 5pm on May 26. Its location is at 201 Albin Stevens Drive in Ottawa, IL, right near the Illinois River. General admission tickets are $35 per person, which includes entrance, 20 sampling tickets (each redeemable for a 3oz sample), and a commemorative festival glass. Tickets increase to $40 on the day of the event. Designated driver tickets are $10 per person, which includes entrance, soda, and water.
